The project was created by the legendary studio Neri&Hu, masters of architectural transformation. Rather than erasing the past, they inserted a contemporary hotel into an ordinary residential building of the old quarter, preserving its imperfections, raw concrete textures, shifting light and the feeling of a real city.
Custom-designed furniture, Taschen books, the silence of the internal galleries and a rare sense of place make the experience feel less like a hotel stay and more like discovering a hidden residence.
What makes Jiangnan House truly special is the opportunity to see Shenzhen not as a metropolis of skyscrapers, but as a city of contrasts. Begin the morning with coffee on the hotel’s ground floor, lose yourself in the labyrinth of Nantou’s alleys, and within half an hour find yourself surrounded by the futuristic towers of Nanshan.
For travelers who think they already know Shenzhen, Jiangnan House reveals another version of the city — quieter, older, more tactile and infinitely more intriguing.
